Troubleshooting and status glossary

Use this section when a user sees a status or error and needs the next safe action.

Troubleshooting and status glossary

This is the section to open when something looks wrong — a status you do not recognise, an operation that is stuck, content that will not update, or a domain that is not resolving. Each topic gives you the meaning of what you are seeing and the safe next step.

Most issues fall into a few buckets: a status message that is actually normal (like Waiting DNS right after you add a hostname), an operation that is queued or failed and can be retried or cancelled, stale content that a purge will fix, and DNS problems where a record points to the wrong place. The status glossary decodes the states you will meet on the domain and operation lists.

The goal is to avoid guesswork: read the status, follow the recommended action, and verify with the cache or DNS check before escalating. If a problem persists after those steps, you can open a support ticket with the right diagnostics attached.

Use cases

  • Waiting DNS is shown after hostname creation.
  • A deploy operation is queued or failed.
  • Object Storage is gated by readiness.

Workflow

  1. Read the status.
  2. Open related operation/log/status page.
  3. Run customer-safe checks.
  4. Retry, cancel, or open support with diagnostics.

Checks

  • Status text does not expose internal hostnames or secrets.
  • Internal API failures are translated into customer-safe messages.
  • Retry instructions are scoped to the customer surface.
