Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Anti-DDoS Protection
The Web Application Firewall (WAF) inspects every request at the edge before it reaches your application: SQL injection, XSS and scraper bots are filtered out before they ever touch your origin. The anti-DDoS layer absorbs volumetric attacks across the whole network, so no single server ever faces the full attack.
There is nothing extra to install for DDoS mitigation: protection is active the moment your site sits behind the CDN. Optionally you can add country blocking, an IP blacklist and request rate limiting on sensitive paths.
Not on a single machine — once the attack saturates your bandwidth, the site is down before any local firewall can react. The right approach is to route traffic through a distributed edge network: the attack is absorbed network-wide, the WAF filters application-layer requests, and only clean traffic reaches your origin.
