Domain not resolving or pointing to the wrong place

Diagnose DNS propagation, wrong CNAME targets, and nameserver mismatches with safe public tools.

Use cases

A customer added a hostname or switched nameservers, but the site does not open, shows another provider's page, or behaves differently for different visitors.

Workflow

  1. Check what the public DNS currently returns: `dig +short yourdomain.com` and `dig +short NS yourdomain.com` (or an online DNS checker).
  2. Compare the answer with the target shown in the panel (CNAME target or CDN.com.tr nameservers).
  3. If answers differ between resolvers, propagation is still in progress — wait for the TTL and re-check.
  4. If the answer is wrong everywhere, fix the record at the place that currently controls DNS (your registrar or old provider).
  5. After DNS is correct, verify ownership in the panel and confirm the SSL state follows.

Checks

  • The domain row transfer status in the panel reflects the last check; it refreshes when you reopen the page.
  • A CNAME must point exactly to the service target shown in the panel — no extra prefixes or trailing dots.
  • Different answers from different locations almost always mean propagation, not an error.

Frequently asked questions

How long does DNS propagation really take?

As long as the old record's TTL plus the registrar's processing time. Typical values are minutes to a few hours; 48 hours is the worst case for nameserver changes.

The site works for me but not for some visitors.

Classic propagation symptom: their resolver still has the old answer cached. It fixes itself when the TTL expires; nothing to do on the CDN side.

dig shows the right target but the panel still says not transferred.

The panel caches the last health check. Reopen Distribution Settings or wait for the next automatic check; it re-queries public DNS and updates the status.
